The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) says revised maximum retail prices for anti-cancer medicines will take effect on 9 November 2026. The action follows an October notification capping trade margins for 137 specified anti-cancer drugs. The new prices had not yet come into force when the Department of Pharmaceuticals issued its statement on 7 November.

The department reported that 76 companies had submitted revised prices for 1,225 formulations covering 121 drugs. It said 1,031 formulations showed lower maximum retail prices and 600 brands recorded reductions of more than 50%. The largest reported reduction was 96.45%. Those figures describe company submissions reported by the government, not an independently measured reduction in patients' bills.

The authority estimated that the changes could produce annual consumer savings of ₹3,502.31 crore. That figure is a forecast, not a realised saving. The department also said the trade-margin measure will apply to the remaining identified medicines when those products are launched in India.

Retailers, dealers, hospitals and other medical institutions must display the revised price lists. The department said state drug controllers would monitor compliance, while patients can consult the NPPA website or the Pharma Sahi Daam application for the applicable price of a specific medicine and formulation.
