Privacy policy.
Who this covers
This policy describes The Raisina Post's website and editorial correspondence. Newsletter subscriptions and reader accounts are currently hosted through Substack, which separately controls data processed through its platform. Third-party charts and embedded tools may have their own privacy policies.
The publication operates a public website for reading articles and exploring research tools. This notice distinguishes information provided directly to our editorial team from information processed when a reader uses Substack or another independent service.
Information you provide
If you contact us, we receive the information you include, such as your name, email address and message. If you request corporate access, we may receive your professional contact details, organisation, approximate team size and requirements. We use this to respond to your enquiry and manage correspondence. Do not send confidential documents or sensitive personal information unless necessary and agreed.
Messages may include links, attachments and professional information you choose to share. If you submit a factual correction or source document, we may review its contents, confirm its authenticity and retain an editorial record of the correspondence. Avoid submitting passwords, identification numbers or unrelated third-party personal data.
Subscriptions and embedded services
If you use the onsite newsletter signup form, your name, email address and consent choice are sent only when you submit the form to our signup service, which stores them separately from the public GitHub repository. Records can subsequently be imported into Substack for delivery. See our reader signup privacy notice for retention and removal details. If you subscribe directly on Substack, or make a payment there, that platform processes the details under its own policies. The website may load external services such as market charts, fonts and linked research providers; these providers may receive technical information including your IP address, browser data and usage details. Their handling is governed by their own policies.
Readers should review the relevant third party's notice before signing in, entering payment information or using an interactive embedded chart. An external link does not mean that The Raisina Post independently controls that provider's storage, cookies or account records.
Cookies and browser storage
The Raisina Post uses browser storage for your privacy choice and any tools you decide to personalise. This is different from cookies that an external market-data or analytics provider may use. Our website's own preference manager saves a record in your browser's localStorage, rather than setting a first-party tracking cookie.
What each category means
- Essential site preferences
- Always available. Local browser storage remembers your privacy choice, newsletter-invitation dismissal and, where used, saved research or workspace settings. It is not permission to send tracking data to external providers. Newsletter invitation suppression generally lasts seven days after dismissal; other tool settings persist until you reset them or clear your browser storage.
- Optional market embeds
- Off until you opt in. Permits TradingView price tickers and optional Investing.com benchmark index charts to load. These providers may receive technical information including your IP address and use cookies or browser storage. Their practices are described in the TradingView privacy policy and Investing.com privacy policy. Provider charts and quotes may be delayed; consent is not required to read our articles.
- Optional readership analytics
- Off until you opt in. If you enable analytics, we load Google Analytics 4 (Google tag, measurement ID G-SFCW6PXRQV) to understand aggregate readership and page usage. Google may process browser and device information and use cookies or similar identifiers under its privacy policy. If the publication also configures GoatCounter, that readership-measurement script is included only with analytics permission; see GoatCounter privacy information. Choosing Essential only does not load these analytics services.
How to change your choice
You can choose Essential only, Customise or Accept optional when the privacy banner appears. Your selection is saved under rp-privacy-v1 and honoured for up to 180 days on this browser and domain, after which you will be asked again. You can revisit your selection at any time through Cookie preferences in the footer or the control below. The optional categories are independent, and you may decline either or both.
Revoking permission reloads the page to stop optional scripts that have already loaded; it cannot erase data previously received by a provider. Clearing this site's storage in your browser also resets your selection. Other necessary requests, such as GitHub Pages hosting and fonts, may occur without optional consent; links you follow to external websites are governed by those sites' own policies.
How we use information
We use information to answer enquiries, manage communications, maintain security, diagnose technical problems and improve the publication. We do not claim to sell reader contact details. We do not use corporate enquiries as permission to enrol employees in newsletters without an appropriate basis.
Enquiry information is not a public submission by default. If material is supplied for publication, we will seek appropriate consent or establish another lawful basis before publishing identifying personal details where required. We may use aggregated, non-identifying information to understand readership and improve accessibility.
Disclosure and retention
Enquiry details may be accessible to service providers used for email, hosting and publication administration to the extent needed to provide those services. We retain correspondence as reasonably necessary for its purpose, operational records and lawful obligations; exact periods depend on the record and provider. Platform-level subscriber retention follows the relevant provider's policies.
We do not publish a fixed universal deletion period for all records because email, editorial and provider records have different purposes. If you seek removal of information held directly by the publication, identify the relevant correspondence so we can assess your request. Records may be retained where necessary to establish the accuracy of a published correction, resolve a dispute or comply with law.
Your choices and requests
You may request access, correction or deletion of personal information held directly by us, subject to applicable legal requirements, by emailing raisinapost@substack.com. For Substack account and newsletter controls, use your account or unsubscribe link. We may need sufficient information to verify a request.
You may unsubscribe from a newsletter through the link in the message or the relevant Substack account controls. Requests directed to us concern information under our control; requests involving Substack or an embedded service may need to be made to that provider as well.
India's Digital Personal Data Protection framework is being brought into force in phases. We review applicable requirements as they commence and as our actual processing activities change. This notice is not a representation that every statutory provision is already in effect.
Updates and contact
We may revise this notice as providers or features change. For privacy enquiries email raisinapost@substack.com. This notice is general information and should be reviewed against actual data flows before any new reader-registration or direct-payment service launches.
When contacting us, indicate whether your request concerns an editorial email, an onsite form, Substack or another integrated service. This helps identify the responsible service and address the issue more efficiently.
