## The rupee over time

Compare purchasing power using India's annual average consumer price index (2010 = 100). This broad basket is not a household-specific cost estimate or the latest monthly CPI release.

### Calculation

Equivalent amount = starting amount × end-year CPI ÷ start-year CPI. Cumulative change = (end-year CPI ÷ start-year CPI − 1) × 100. Both selected years must have positive published observations. No interpolation or forecasts are used; calculations use unrounded index values.
